Using “Do Follow” plugin for Word Press Comments

Word Press has nofollow tag associated with all the links in comments by default. For those who have no idea what nofollow tag is, its a simple html tag that stops the google bot from going futher to the link in which this tag is used.

nofollow tag is used as rel=”nofollow” attribute and its example is like

<a href=”http://www.example.com/” rel=”nofollow”>My Site</a>

Basic usage of this tag, as defined by Google at their official blog, is to prevet spamming on blogs in form of comments. No doubt if you are a blogger you come across a lot of spammy messages even if you have not discarded the default nofollow tag.

What i was trying to get is that what are the results if i change the default option to dofollow, its not a tag but only a term used to specify that my blog is no more having nofollow tag for links in comments. Basic reason for changing and asking you to change is that if someone is commenting something helpful then whats wrong in giving him a backlink.

Moreover if you are using dofollow option then there is more chance that a person will comment something positive adding to your content. No doubt content is the king for any website and if you are getting some unique content from a visitor for a cost of link then there is nothing wrong in it.

It may be difficult for a real big blog with huge traffic but for a lower traffic blog or midium traffic blog, it is going to be beneficial. At least what i have read on forums, say so. You may have to give some extra time in filtering comments but their will be more number of useful comments, i guess.

If you have decided to give it a try then just go for it. You need to simply install and activate the plugin.

I am just leaving a test comment for you to verify that the link has no nofollow attached to it.

Simply right click and view source and to reach it easily search with the enclosed string “Written by:nickname”, nick name means your name! because in Word Press, your nick name is always the anchor text. Here in this case you will search “Written by:ravianz” for the test msg.

Once you have reached the nick of yours or ravianz in this test comment case, just verify that
